Physical Education
We are proud to hold the Sainsbury’s GOLD Kite Mark Award, recognising our excellence in sporting provision. At Christ Church School, we strive to achieve the right balance between healthy competition and inclusiveness. All abilities are catered for, and every pupil is encouraged to enjoy physical activity while developing a positive attitude to fitness and exercise. In our lessons, we follow the Get Set 4 PE scheme, which ensures a structured and progressive approach to physical education. Pupils begin by learning fundamental movement skills in EYFS and gradually progress to team sports and more complex activities in Key Stage 2.
In addition to our curriculum lessons, pupils have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of co-curricular sports clubs, including teacher-led sessions and those provided by our partner, Shine After School Clubs. These activities encourage enjoyment, teamwork, and the chance to develop skills beyond the classroom.
Throughout the year, our pupils take part in tournaments with local schools and further afield through the Ashton Park School Sports Partnership. Christ Church School has a long-standing reputation for success in these events, allowing our children’s talents to shine and often leading to achievements at regional competitions. Each year, we also host our Annual Sports Day at Clifton College, a house event where children from Reception to Year 6 earn points for their House, celebrating effort, teamwork, and school spirit.
