Yr 6 STEM
20th June 2018
What a Tuesday! Year 6 were plunged into the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Maths & Engineering) careers and enjoyed a hands-on experience that thoroughly tired us all out. We began our day on the train to Temple Meads (we’re getting used to this now) and walked over to a rather mysterious operation called ‘Unit DX’. Inside the building was a real working lab and the children had the opportunity to try a number of scientific experiments that would otherwise be impossible in the classroom. After a rather hasty lunch, year 6 were invited to a short presentation by a local entrepreneur and tasked to create their own sporty invention. Just in case that wasn’t enough, we then visited a local tech company ‘Ultrahaptics’ who use ultrasound in a variety of interesting ways and got to have a play with some cutting edge technology.
