Yr 5/6 Spring Games

25th April 2019
On Thursday, 27 Year 5/6 children took part in the Level 3 West of England Spring School Games festival held at Bristol Grammar Sports Ground.

To make it to this event was an achievement in itself, as we had to win either silver or gold within our local tournaments through the Ashton Park cluster. Amazingly, we were able to take along our rugby, netball and hockey teams. Throughout the day there was mixed success in both the rugby and netball matches: with wins, loses and draws. The children put in 100% effort to every match and finished the day happy with their performances.
The hockey team did staggeringly well and were undefeated in every one of their matches. This saw us through to the final where a medal was guaranteed. When the match finished at 0-0 the umpires were a little stumped on how to settle it! It was decided that whichever team could hit a hockey ball closest to a line marked on the pitch would win. We came away with Silver and were delighted with our result, especially considering that this was the highest that any school had ever placed within the Bristol cluster.
Well done to all 27 children – you presented our school fantastically, and battled on through the wind and rain!
