Yr 4 Synagogue Trip

9th May 2016

On Monday morning, year 4 walked to the Bristol Hebrew Congregation synagogue on Park Row. We have been learning about Judaism in our RE lessons so were looking forward to seeing a synagogue and asking some of the questions that we had prepared. When we arrived, we listened to a talk in the main hall about the origins of Judaism. We then enjoyed looking at some of the features of the synagogue such as the arc and even had a go at reading the Torah! Towards the end of our visit, the children were given the opportunity to try some traditional Jewish foods. They particularly enjoyed the lekach (honey cakes). We learnt a lot during our visit and are looking forward to discussing this further during our next RE lesson.
