Year 5 Tyntesfield and Bristol Archives

12th January 2017

Year 5 have enjoyed taking part in trials of new workshops at Tyntesfield and at the Bristol Archives. We have learnt about how electricity was made at Tynestfield and took part in a couple of science experiments including creating static electricity with balloons and making circuits with copper wire, iron nails and vinegar.

Following our icy start to the morning, we arrived at the Bristol Archives to be greeted by maps, pictures, postcards and Victorian record books about the history of our school. We loved looking around the strong room and seeing where all the records are kept – including a royal charter dating back to medieval times. Our favourite thing was looking at all the old books and trying to decipher the old teachers’ handwriting!
