Schools Summer Concert Colston Hall

28th June 2017

The KS2 choir did Christ Church proud this week in the annual summer concert at Colston Hall led by Bristol Plays Music. The theme of the night was stories, and our choir along with choirs from another 10 Bristol schools raised the roof with songs from Matilda, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, and much more. The concert literally started off with a bang from the Taiko drumming ensemble performing a piece inspired by William Blake’s “Tyger Tyger”, which featured one child from each school – Jake Rogers represented Christ Church in this number with great enthusiasm! We were treated to other superb performances such as a choral speaking group performing from “A child of books” by Oliver Jeffers, and a dance number by the ballet troupe from St. Bede’s School  adding a little bit of magic to “Lady Dressed in White”. We then celebrated Colston Halls’ 150th birthday spectacularly when the lights went out, and each child turned on a candle and sang “Happy Birthday”. It really was amazing to see almost 600 candles lighting up the stage in the midst of total darkness. You can follow the youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqK6t-Gnw-Q to watch this part of the concert. As usual, Christ Church KS2 choir represented the school beautifully and showed immaculate manners and behaviour throughout. Well done choir!
