Reception trip to Beggar Bush Outdoor Centre

9th March 2017

On Thursday 9th March both of the Reception classes made our way excitedly to the Beggar Bush activity centre. After being split into four groups the children met our Forest Leaders for the day Ash, Rob, Mike and Dave who were keen to get us acquainted with the Forest School rules - "don't go where an adult can't see you" and "no pick, no lick!". After ensuring we understood what was expected of us we hastily followed them into the forest that surrounds the site to begin the day's activities. Throughout the day we worked in a carousel to complete four activities - marshmallow toasting around the fire, den building, a 'Signs of Spring' exploration hunt and finding interesting objects amongst the leaves and branches. We were lucky indeed with the weather as by the time we stopped for lunch we had been blessed with glorious sunshine and the wellies that we had so diligently worn were thankfully not as muddy as expected! We were even able to have a little free playtime running (and for some rolling!) on the grass.

A fabulous, if tiring, day was had by all and the coach ride back to school was certainly quieter than the outward journey. We are so looking forward to returning to the site in June to see how the forest has changed and to complete some new exciting adventures!
