Reception Trip to Wagamama

This week the Reception classes enjoyed a trip to the popular restaurant ‘Wagamama’ as part of our ‘Me and My body’ topic.

We made the most of the beautiful spring weather and worked up our appetites by walking from school to Clifton Triangle, then participated in three different activities related to healthy foods.

The children transformed into mini chefs and dressed in hats and aprons. They sampled some colourful fruit and vegetable juices, witnessing first-hand the magical transformation from whole fruit to juice in the special juicing machine. Next, they delighted in popping edamame beans from their pods and moving them from one pot to another with chopsticks, demonstrating their impressive fine motor skills! The children also carefully weighed peppers, mange tout, sweet corn and a choice of tofu or chicken to make ‘yaki soba’ noodles.

Then the part they’d all been waiting for! Everyone had the opportunity to sample the results of their hard work. With full tummies and arms laden with new ‘wagamama’ bags we thanked the lovely staff and began walking back to school, just in time for lunch!
