Reception to the Downs
5th July 2017
Reception enjoyed their busy morning learning all about butterflies! We strolled in the sunshine to meet our instructor Wendy then walked up to Clifton Downs where we searched for butterflies and learnt all about their life cycle.
The children learnt lots of butterfly facts and tested out their acting skills, imitating a caterpillar shedding it’s skin, then forming a chrysalis and emerging as a beautiful butterfly! After a quick snack break to refuel the children then took part in a relay race to see which ‘butterflies’ could collect the most nectar. When we returned to school the children used their artistic talents to create their own butterflies, carefully thinking about how to make their wings symmetrical! What a super day of learning!
