Reception Clifton Food Walk

21st January 2019
On Monday both reception classes went to explore the local area. They enjoyed their first walk around the village as part of their topic on food. They visited Chandos Deli to explore the fish counter and look at the selection of food and bread in the shop. On the way out they were even allowed to try some tomatoes. After that they walked to The Clifton Village Butchers where they saw the butcher preparing meat. The children enjoyed recognising meat they ate and meat they wouldn’t like to eat! On the way back to school they visited Reg the Veg where they saw Sylvie who helped the children pick the fruit that was on their shopping list. They bought mangoes, blood oranges, strawberries and oranges. They learnt skills of counting, turn taking and about numbers to 20. When back in school they enjoyed tasting the fruits. We were so proud of the children for trying the fruit and it was very clear what a healthy reception we have! RRP particularly enjoyed the blood oranges and strawberries. In RVA the favourite fruits were oranges and then mango.

The children were beautifully behaved, enjoyed talking about the shops they visited, foods they liked and giving us directions to other places they went to for food. We were also very grateful to our parent helpers who took the time to come and help us on the trip.
