Online Safety Main Page
Technology moves at a breakneck pace. Communication systems such as social networks, blogs, mobile phones and email have become increasingly important in our daily lives and often have important benefits. However, as we all know, there are also a number of inherent risks to be considered and evaluated when using this fascinating technology.
Access to the Internet can take place almost anywhere and at anytime. Thus it is essential that students, teachers and parents are aware of the risks, know how to use modern technologies appropriately and are able to discuss the issues in school, at home and between friends, as well as what actions to take when something goes wrong.
Here at Christ Church Primary School, E-safety is extremely important. Throughout the year, across the year groups, E-Safety messages are integrated into the children's lessons across the wider curriculum - not just during Computing lessons. Whether it is learning how to conduct safe internet research or setting up simple personal profiles on their favourite websites, the children are taught to keep their safety in mind at all times. We teach the children the SMART rules (see right - click on the image for a larger version) to ensure that they can use technologies in a safe way, not just for themselves, but towards other internet users.
The links below are there to provide parents and children with a host of information about online safety so you can decide what is right and safe for your family when using the Internet and associated technologies.
