Yr 6 Crepe Making

Year 6 are studying food in French at the moment and had the opportunity to have a practical lesson cooking crêpes (thin pancakes) as it was Pancake Day on Shrove Tuesday, the 5th of March. We also discussed cultural differences as in France, crêpes are on the menu to celebrate Candlemas (Chandeleur) on 2nd February and marks the the presentation of the baby Jesus at the temple in Jerusalem. Traditionally, eating pancakes on this day is supposed to ensure that the harvest for the coming year is plentiful. Year 6 children really enjoyed memorising the recipe, making and eating the crêpes!
