Constitution

The Christ Church C of E Primary Academy Trust (incorporated on 24th May 2012 and opened as an Academy on 1st July 2012) is a company limited by guarantee and an exempt charity.  The Charitable Company's Memorandum and Articles of Association are the primary governing documents of the Academy Trust.

The Academy has two layers of governance;

The Members of the Academy, who are akin to shareholders, are the subscribers to the memorandum of association, and other individuals permitted under the charitable articles of association. Members have a limited financial liability to the Academy in the event it is wound up and have the power to appoint and remove Trustees.
 
The Trustees, who are responsible for the three core strategic governance functions outlined below:
  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
The Trustees of Christ Church C of E Primary School are also the directors of the Charitable Company and more commonly known as Governors.
