3TC

A big welcome to 3TC at Christ Church!

The children have settled into their new space beautifully and seem to be really enjoying practicing the new routines.

This week we have had fun introducing our new topic  (Ancient Egyptians) through decoding and translating a letter in hieroglyphics. Having merged with new class mates, we have also played some getting to know you games to find out even more details about each other. In Numeracy, we have been revising place value, looking at hundreds, tens and ones and in Literacy, we have had fun beginning to study 'Into the Woods' by Anthony Browne.

You can find more information about our learning this term via our curriculum newsletter which also includes information about how you can help at home, a reading list and an overview of the topics covered this year.

Throughout the week, Year 3 have taken inspiration from Thomas Gainsborough’s painting ‘Mr and Mrs Andrews’. The painting focuses on portraits as well as landscapes. We predominately focused on the landscape element of the painting and used nature as our starting point as we took a trip to Victoria Square. Whilst at the park we sketched on location, took rubbings and collected leaves which we then used in our art work. This is evident in the variety of printing techniques that we have experimented with.

Thank you to Mrs Clements (our resistant printing guru) and all parents that came in to help. We simply couldn’t have done it without you. Come to the exhibition to marvel at our efforts!
